Museum Policies

  • CMOM is bursting with fun, but short on space. Please leave your stroller at home, or bring one that easily folds.
  • CMOM does not have a cafeteria, and there is no food or drink allowed in the Museum. There are many family-friendly restaurants in the area and your admission stamp allows you to re-enter the Museum as many times as you like for the day.

Dance along as Museum Educators share the vibrant life of Puerto Rican Mambo musician and Latin jazz composer Tito Puente—the Mambo King in Tito Puente, Mambo King/Tito Puente, Rey del Mambo by Monica Brown and Rafael Lopez.

Making Murals, 11:00am

Help us create a community mural at the Children’s Museum! Learn about some of New York’s most recognizable murals in East Harlem and the Bronx and explore how murals can beautify a city and bring people together.

* Due to limited space, this program requires you to sign-up for entry. Sign-up in the lobby one hour before the event.

Create a funny story about your family with filmmaker and multimedia storyteller William D. Caballero. William’s film HOW YOU DOIN,’ BOY? VOICEMAILS FROM GRAN’PA, a comedy created from 3D modeled miniatures of his grandfather, led to the HBO series Gran'pa Knows Best, now on HBO and HBO GO.

Cleanup Parade, 3:00pm

Pick up a broom or mop and join the Cleanup Parade! Follow our Museum Educators around PlayWorks™ as we sing songs that help get our bodies moving and our exhibit clean.
