Whatever your needs, CMOM provides an energetic background for your special events and is the perfect venue for a corporate event, business meeting, private party or media event!

Past partnerships have included:

Inspired by Diabetes Day
A weekend of programs with health screenings, information and resources for families with diabetes. In partnership with The International Diabetes Foundation, The American Diabetes Foundation and Eli Lilly & Co.

Casio Portraits
In this workshop, families drew pictures and then took a photo of themselves with the Casio digital camera. The folks from Casio then inserted the pictures they drew right into the background of the family photo as a special gift for Mother’s Day.

Discover the Sights and Sounds of Puerto Rico
Families learned about Puerto Rican culture and wildlife on an adventure hunt throughout the museum with art workshops, animal face painting, music performances and more. The event partners were GoToPuertoRico.com, Family Fun Magazine and Wonder Time.

Duke Ellington: Big Band Instrument Making, 10:00am

All ages

10am - 4:45pm
Edward “Duke” Ellington was not only a talented jazz performer, but also a composer and the conductor of his own Big Band. Many of the famous pieces of jazz we know today – known as ‘standards’ – were written by Duke for his band, and for the specific talents of his musicians. Inspired by the individual style of these talented performers, build your own musical instruments similar to the ones you hear in Duke Ellington’s music.
This program is part of our "Jazzed!: The Changing Beat of 125th Street" exhibit and takes place on the lower level.

Swept Away: When Water Meets Sand, 10:30am

All ages

10:30am - 4pm
Explore how water changes ecosystems with our new Erosion Table! Discover water’s power on Earth’s surface by creating rivers and lakes through sand.

Thinking Like a Composer (Demo) , 11:00am

All ages

Music is made up of notes of different pitches, from low to high. An important characteristic of jazz music is that these notes are arranged in unusual rhythms. Examine a historic score sheet by composers such as Duke Ellington and Mary Lou Williams. Then match the sounds that you hear with notes on the paper and create your own score.
This program is part of our "Jazzed!: The Changing Beat of 125th Street" exhibit and takes place on the lower level.
