Parent Workshops

Have CMOM staff meet with your PTA, parent coordinators, or interested parents to explore ways to take creative learning home. All workshops are hands-on and can be scheduled at CMOM or at your site. Come away with ideas about resources throughout the city and how to take better advantage of those in your neighborhood. Alternative workshops are available and can be switched with those recommended below.

Early Learning

Little learners have big ideas.Learn how to build a supportive environment as they stretch their imaginations.

Workshop: Understand how children learn through their senses through a series of messy art projects.

Healthy Living Childhood

Obesity rates continue to rise across the country and families can make a difference. Parents make important choices about what foods are being eaten while still needing to keep a healthy budget.

Art at Home

Art can sometimes seem as if it is something found only in a museum but art is about having a creative eye for details.

Workshop: Experiment with materials that can be found in the home including biodegradable packing materials, disposable take out packages and more to inspire creative use of everyday objects.

Science is everywhere and with just a few key ingredients parents can set up their own “lab” in the kitchen.

Workshop: Experiment with a variety of ingredients in the kitchen to make things change color, float, produce a gas and even erupt.

Presentation: The Truth about Wild Wolves: The Atka Traveling Ambassador Wolf, 2:00pm

The program will include an awe-inspiring, up-close encounter with this important but misunderstood predator. Families will learn about the history of wolves in the United States, the importance of wolves in a healthy ecosystem, and the efforts to save these magnificent creatures for future generations.  Presented by the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) in South Salem, NY
