Summer Day Camp Tours 2011

Bring your students and campers to the Children's Museum of Manhattan this summer and explore new ideas through hands-on learning. Choose from the following programs!

It’s All Greek to Me (Recommended for Ages 7 – 12)

In CMOM's own Gods Myths and Mortals: Discover Ancient Greece exhibit, explore the achievements of the ancient Greeks and experience chapters of the epic story of The Odyssey through an interactive guided tour in which students problem solve to learn how a variety of artifacts were used by the ancient Greeks.

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Monday-Friday at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30.

Get Curious (Recommended for Ages 3 - 7)

Explore your natural curiousity through science, math and engineering in this interactive guided tour through CMOM's newest exhibition Curious George: Let's Get Curious. Children encounter new challenges and materials while creating their very own project.

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Monday-Friday at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30.

Being Green (Recommended for Ages 3 – 7)

Learn about the environment as you explore animals in the rainforest in our Adventures with Dora and Diego exhibition and explore the properties of water in our City Splash! exhibition. Children watch a science experiment and then use the idea to make a watery work of art!

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Monday-Fridays at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30.

PlayWorks™ Tour (Recommended for Ages 1 – 5)

Feed Alphie the dragon alphabet letters, ride a NYC firetruck and metro city bus and go shopping in the Little Apple Deli while visiting different early learning environments to explore the sites, sounds and spaces of the city in CMOM's own PlayWorks™ exhibition.

*Please note: strollers must be checked at the door and are not permitted inside the exhibition. Groups with one chaperone for every child are encouraged to divide their group into two classes to prevent overcrowding.

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Mondays only at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00pm-4:30pm.

Learn about how wild wolves live and why they are important to our world. Make a wild wolf puppet with moveable legs.

Presentation: The Truth about Wild Wolves: The Atka Traveling Ambassador Wolf, 2:00pm

The program will include an awe-inspiring, up-close encounter with this important but misunderstood predator. Families will learn about the history of wolves in the United States, the importance of wolves in a healthy ecosystem, and the efforts to save these magnificent creatures for future generations.  Presented by the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) in South Salem, NY
