School Year Guided Group Tours

CMOM’s award-winning exhibitions have been created and built by a team of education specialists and designers based on the idea that students learn by doing. Interactive components and larger-than-life environments encourage students to explore in new ways, making learning come alive! Bring your class to one of our theme-based 90-minute tours which are led by a museum educator and include a guided tour of an interactive exhibition and a hands-on workshop. Pre-visit activities and background material are included with final confirmation. All tours conform to New York State and City Performance Standards and are individually adapted to each grade level. Grades Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd

Become a vendor at a NYC Green Cart to learn about the benefits of fruits and veggies, crawl through an intestine and see how your food travels, and pump a giant heart to see if it’s healthy in CMOM's brand new exhibit EatSleepPlayTM: Building Health Every Day, where students explore the benefits of healthy eating, physical activity and sleep. Students will also create an innovative health based art project.

New! Hands-On Health

Grades 3rd - 6th

*opens in November

Explore the benefits of healthy choices as you guide an avatar through an interactive game, scrub the intestine walls as you learn about the benefits of fiber, and play a foosball game that pits the well-rested team against a bunch of sleepyheads. Whether spinning an arm cycle, testing balance on a pair of wobbly boards, or creating music in a laser dance chamber, CMOM’s EatSleepPlayTM: Building Health Every Day exhibit inspires students to find new ways to have fun while being active. Students will also create an innovative health based project.

Diego’s Rainforest Adventure

Grades Pre-Kindergarten - 1st

Rescue a blue-morpho butterfly, guide sea turtles to the shore, and look for tree frogs following in the footsteps of Diego as he helps different animals in the Adventures with Dora and Diego exhibit. Students also create a kapok tree collage in a science workshop as they learn about the different layers of the rainforest strata.

Dora’s Neighborhood

Grades Kindergarten – 1st

Discover Dora’s friends and neighbors through a guided tour of Adventures with Dora and Diego. Then participate in an art workshop in which your students create a model of their neighborhood.

City Sights and Sounds

Grades Pre-Kindergarten – Kindergarten, Mondays Only

Visit different early learning environments to explore the sights, sounds and spaces of the city in CMOM’s own PlayWorks™ exhibit and decorate a paper fire truck to take home!

Grades Kindergarten - 5th

*opens in December

Follow Monkey through his mischievous adventures in the exhibition and story of Monkey King: Journey to China by retracing Monkey's journey as he crosses China and arrives in India. Students also investigate the literary, oral and cultural traditions of Chinese society as they participate in a storytelling workshop.
