Summer Day Camp Tours 2010

Bring your students and campers to the Children's Museum of Manhattan this summer and explore new ideas through hands-on learning. Choose from the following programs!

It’s All Greek to Me (Recommended for Ages 7 – 12)

In CMOM's own Gods Myths and Mortals: Discover Ancient Greece exhibit, explore the achievements of the ancient Greeks and experience chapters of the epic story of The Odyssey through an interactive guided tour in which students problem solve to learn how a variety of artifacts were used by the ancient Greeks.

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Monday-Fridays at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30.

Toys Inside Out (Recommended for Ages 5 – 12)

Explore the science and design behind your favorite toys in this visiting exhibition Toys: The Inside Story. Children then sketch and build a model of their own design.

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30.

Being Green (Recommended for Ages 4 – 7)

Learn about the environment as you explore animals in the rainforest in our Adventures with Dora and Diego exhibition and explore the properties of water in our City Splash! exhibition. Children watch a science experiment and then use the idea to make a watery work of art!

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Monday-Fridays at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30.

PlayWorks™ Tour (Recommended for Ages 1 – 5)

Chaperones and children explore together in the PlayWorks™ exhibition then create an alphabet cityscape with letter stamps to take home.

*Please note: strollers must be checked at the door and are not permitted inside the exhibition. Groups with one chaperone for every child are encouraged to divide their group into two classes to prevent overcrowding.

Tour time: 90 minutes. Tour cost: $125.00 per group of up to 20 children. Available Mondays only at 10:30am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00pm-4:30pm.

Summer Watercolor Painting, 10:00am

ages 4 & younger

Use water color paints to create a watery summer picture.
Kindergarten Readiness Skills: Science skills (color mixing and cause and effect).

Clean-Up Together, 11:15am

ages 4 & younger

Have fun helping CMOM Educators clean up the PlayWorks™ Lab using music, sponges and brooms!
Kindergarten Readiness Skills: Developing listening and social skills, learning to transition from one activity to the next.

PlayWorks™ Circle Time, 11:30am

ages 4 & younger

Sing, move your body and use your listening ears to hear special stories.
Kindergarten Readiness Skills: Learn new vocabulary, build listening skills and learn to be part of a group.

Playful Playdough , 12:00pm

ages 4 & younger

Squeeze, tap, roll and experiment with playdough!
Kindergarten Readiness Skills: Exploring texture, developing sensory awareness and fine motor skills needed for writing.

Bubble Dance Party, 3:00pm

ages 4 & younger

Learn the Freeze Dance as CMOM educators blow bubbles around you.
Kindergarten readiness skills: Develop gross motor and listening skills
and learn to be part of a group.
