CMOM Philosophy

For more than thirty years CMOM has been a destination and resource where families of all backgrounds come to learn, play and grow together. At CMOM, we take pride in our mission to prepare children to succeed in school, help families live healthy lives, and nurture a new generation of creative and global citizens. Each year, we touch the lives of more than 350,000 families—through groundbreaking exhibits, innovative programs and first class performances. We bring the joy of creativity and discovery to each child who walks through our doors on West 83rd Street, as well as thousands served beyond the walls of the Museum. Working with a network of more than 50 organizations across the City, CMOM removes barriers that keep children from accessing the rich educational resources a museum can offer. CMOM is more than a museum—we provide a continuum of experiences that give all children the intellectual, emotional, physical and social skills they need to thrive.

Early Childhood

CMOM believes that children learn best when provided with nurturing, creative environments that support play, imagination, curiosity and discovery. Our comprehensive early childhood curriculum engages all facets of your child's life by bringing together the arts, language, science, math and the humanities.

Healthy Lifestyles

CMOM’s innovative approaches have helped families incorporate healthy living, cooking and physical fitness into healthy lives. Now, as the incidence of childhood obesity reaches epidemic levels, health experts and key local leaders have asked us to help lead the fight against childhood obesity.

CMOM hosts renowned artists, musicians, dancers, actors, and authors in our workshops, performances and exhibits. Through creativity, we encourage children and families to express their opinions, understand the views of others and build critical problem-solving skills for life-long learning.
