I Wish I Knew You When You Were Five: Portraits by Jamie Kim

All Ages

Artist Jamie Kim’s series of portrait paintings on T-shirts captures the qualities that remain consistent and unchanging from childhood into adulthood. The paintings, based on childhood photographs of current friends, are displayed with photographs of each adult wearing their childhood portrait.

Kim’s work encourages viewers to consider the characteristics unique to one’s personality no matter the age. Interactive stations allow visitors to trace their own portrait, capturing the characteristics that make them unique.
